Your Birth Day

Your Birth Day

Anticipation filled the air

The halls were festively decked;

But I wasn’t celebrating Christmas

I wasn’t ready, not just yet;

It was early in the morning

Of December seventeenth;

And I was preparing to meet my baby

A mix of nerves and excitement underneath;

Would it be a girl or boy?

I would find out very soon;

All of the planning and waiting

I would know well before noon;

It was all over so fast

They exclaimed, it’s a boy!

You barely let out a cry

As my eyes filled with tears of joy;

I loved you before I knew you

I can’t imagine if you hadn’t been born;

My life would not have been complete

Without that December morn;

I’ve watched you grow

And we’ve had some scares;

And your sense of humor

Has caused a few stares!

Yes, you make me laugh

And you have a kind heart;

I could see that

Right from the start;

You are discovering your talent

The music that lies inside;

I can’t wait to see it flourish

As you continue to practice and try;

No longer a child

Your journey as a man begins;

Be who God created you to be

And get all of your strength from Him;

Happy Birthday, Jacob

Enjoy your special day;

And know you hold a special place

In my heart where you’ll forever stay.
